Wow, talk about the breakup of a century!
According to the divorce filing obtained by People, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt separated five days ago. The Oscar-winning actress filed for divorce from the 52-year-old actor on Monday. They've been married for two years.
Jolie cited irreconcilable difference as the cause of the split. She is also asking for physical custody of their six children — Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox — and also asking that Pitt be granted visitation.
Jolie has not requested any child or spousal support. According to the documents, the couple separated on Sept. 15.
“Angelina will always do what's in the best interest of taking care of her family,” Jolie's longtime manager, Geyer Kosinski, told E! News. “She appreciates everyone's understanding of their need for privacy at this time.”
Kosinski also said that “for the health of the family,” Jolie “will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time.”

Despite rumors about Pitt's involvement with Oscar-winning actress Marion Cotillard, no third party is believed to be involved. Pitt and Cotillard recently filmed the period drama Allied.
Pitt released a statement to People saying: “I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the wellbeing of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”
A source told People that the “divorce is a complete shock” and that Jolie and Pitt “have definitely spent more time apart this year, but it's still a shock. They just celebrated their wedding anniversary together.”
The same insider added that Pitt escaped to France many times this year since the couple has been fighting constantly. Jolie and Pitt had issues about how to raise their kids.
“They always had disagreements when it came to disciplining the kids,” according to the same source. “With all the kids, it did tend to get chaotic many times.”
Pitt has always been stricter and “wanted the kids to have more structure” and rules. Apparently he was known to “get frustrated sometimes and yell at the kids.”

For her part, Jolie's parenting style was the total opposite. “Angelina always had a more relaxed attitude when it came to the kids. She definitely never yells,” added the source.
Pitt and Jolie infamously met in 2004 on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith after his split from Jennifer Aniston. The couple secretly married in 2014 at Chateau Miraval in France.
