Want to go to Europe next year, but not quite sure where? TAP, Portugal's national airline, has just made the decision-making process easier with a new program that gives fliers between the U.S. and Europe the opportunity to stay several days in Portugal for free. TAP is offering free multi-day stopovers in Lisbon for people changing flights there, en route to other major European cities—and is throwing in free domestic flights from Lisbon to Porto to sweeten the deal. Better still: Those fares are under $500.
This is the perfect time for an impulse buy for holiday travel. Flights from November 1–December 14 out of TAP's U.S. hubs (Miami, Boston, Newark, and New York-JFK) to Paris or London begin at $499 or $508 round-trip, respectively. From there, you can add in up to three free nights in Lisbon (which Condé Nast Traveler recently named Europe's most underrated city) on the way to or from your final destination. If you're not in one of TAP's four U.S. markets, no need to worry: The airline's new partnership with JetBlue means you can connect easily from JetBlue to TAP and back while also banking tons of miles in either carrier's loyalty program. The only caveat is that this deal is gone by the end of the day—but the Lisbon stopover program will continue on indefinitely. Wine lovers may also want to take advantage of the free domestic flights between Lisbon and Porto, Portugal's second city, and use one of their three days there.

From November 1 to December 14, or January 8 to April 6, head to one of TAP's Spanish destinations (A Coruña, Astúrias, Barcelona, Bilbao, Madrid, Málaga, Seville, Valencia, or Vigo) and combine that with the stopover program to make the most of your time in Iberia.
