Actor Alan Thicke, known as the father on the 1980s sitcom “Growing Pains,” died Tuesday at the age of 69.

Over his prolific career, Thicke worked not only on “Growing Pain,” but more recently did cameos on “How I Met Your Mother” and “Fuller House.” He also worked as a song composer, with credits including the theme song to “Diff’rent Strokes.”

Thicke is also the father of Grammy Award-winning singer Robin Thicke.

Candace Cameron Bure, who recently acted alongside Thicke during his appearance on “Fuller House,” took to Twitter to express her grief.

“I’m sad beyond words that Alan Thicke has passed away,” she wrote.

As news of his death spread, other celebrities reacted on social media.
